How can I confirm that my Quantity Control Valve has failed on my Detroit DD15?

  • If you have to diagnose it yourself in an emergency situation, you can measure the resistance if the QCV: For a 2 Filter Fuel System the resistance should be between 1.0-2.0 ohms across pins 1 and 2 of the electrical connector with the ignition off, if it isn't then this is an indication to replace the QCV. For a 3 Filter Fuel System the resistance should be between 1.3-1.4 ohms across pins 1 and 2 of the electrical connector with the ignition off, if it's less then 1.3 ohms this is an indication that the QCV has failed.
